If you are sick and need to find a doctor in Poitiers, here are some of our tips to chose the right medical practitioner and the right health facility.
Where to find healthcare
The first step to find healthcare is to go to your local general practitioner (unless you have suffered an accident or a serious illness requiring hospitalisation)
Contact your local doctor to get an appointment or look up on the search engines with the key words “médecin généraliste Poitiers” or on the on-line directory Pages Jaunes.
If you need to consult a doctor outside of the business hours of the practice, a doctor on duty is available at the following times:
At night from 8pm to 8am
On the weekends from Saturday at 1pm to Monday at 8am
Bank holidays from 8am till the next day at 8am
To find out which doctor is on duty, dial 15, they will redirect you to the available doctor.
The University’s health facility
There is a health facility available for students at the University that regroups different medical practitioners (doctors, psychologists, nurses, psychiatrists).
The healthcare provided is free for all students, you can book an appointment Monday to Thursday from 8.30am to 5.30pm (it closes at 4.30pm on a Friday).
