Agricultural work is varied and offers many job opportunities all year round with a peak of activity and the need for seasonal workers is a lot greater during the summer period.
The activities are related to the seasons: maintaining crops, harvesting vegetables, gathering fruit, grape harvesting, packaging…
In poly-tunnels, in fields, on farms or in warehouses, these jobs require you to have a good physical condition and a suitable outfit.
Board and lodging are rarely included. A car is often required: think about carpooling.
Favour local contacts: meet farmers at local markets or during open-days.
Your employer may offer you a fixed-term contract, a seasonal workers contract (see p.7) or even a Tesa (an agricultural employment contract), a type of
employment contract that is simplified and adapted to agricultural work.
